You can now design virtually anything on 22Slides by describing it to the AI of your choice. It even works with free ChatGPT and Claude accounts, and it's included as an option in every 22Slides plan.

Like many of you, we have a love/hate relationship with AI. We spend a lot of effort protecting your work from it: blocking AI scrapers from training on your photos, hardening defenses against attacks, and keeping bot traffic from slowing your site down for real visitors. But our job is to be the best home for your portfolio, and AI has become genuinely good at part of that job: designing websites.

Building a website used to mean writing code by hand. Then website builder GUIs like 22Slides replaced the code with point-and-click tools, which got similar results in a fraction of the time, but locked you into the options the GUI offered. AI is the next step. You describe the site you want in plain language, and the AI writes it. It gives you the freedom of custom code without needing to know any.

But a design on its own isn't a website. It still needs hosting, a domain, image storage, contact forms and backups, and much more, all connected and kept running.

That's where 22Slides comes in. Your AI does the design, and we handle the rest:

• The editor. Adding a shoot, fixing a caption or adding a page still takes just a minute. Without it, every one of those changes would be another coding or AI session.
• Images. Every photo is served at the right size for each visitor's screen, so phones aren't weighed down by images fit for a 27" display. Compression, format and sharpening can be changed later without re-uploading.
• Upkeep. Hosting, backups, security updates, monitoring, and bot and scraper protection, none of which you have to think about.
• Support. A real person to email about anything and everything, from help trying out a new idea, to fixing an email issue.

Your AI also gets a head start. Our MCP server, the connector that links your AI to your site, gives it our playbook for a good portfolio before it writes a line of code. It asks about your work before designing anything, builds for phones first, and makes sure the design holds up whether a page has 3 images or 300. That means a good result right away, not only after hours of tuning.

Your AI works from a description of your site and never touches your original photos. Every change it makes is saved as a draft that only you can see. You can throw a draft out at any time, and your current design stays up until you publish. And if you're happy with the theme you have now, nothing changes.

How to get started

1. In the editor, open the Theme tab, choose "Custom / AI," and switch to the starter draft.
2. Click "AI connector," copy the connection message, and paste it into a new chat in Claude or ChatGPT.
3. If your AI app asks, add 22Slides as a connector in its settings. You only do this once.
4. Answer a few questions about your work and the look you want, review the draft, and publish when you're happy.
